As a new season of high school spring sports are approaching within the next week, I am going to reflect on my past experiences from my freshman year (before COVID), and my upcoming sophomore softball season.

My freshman year of high school, I worked so hard to not only make my high school’s softball team, but to make starting varsity. I went to almost every conditioning and open gym that spanned from the months of December of 2019 to March of 2020.

All the work that I put in payed off, and by the end of tryouts week, my coach told me that I made starting varsity. However the next coming weeks had something else in store.

COVID-19 ended up cancelling the season before we even had 2 weeks of practice. And the work started back up again for my sophomore season. I had made varsity my freshman year, but I had nothing to prove it.

I got back to work with my club softball team, but I still looked forward to my sophomore season of high school with my eyes set of making varsity again.

By the start of January of 2021, we started up conditioning again. It’s all going good and we have only 2 left until tryouts.

I am looking forward to tryouts and starting the high school softball season, and hopefully getting some games in this go around. I hope for the best and I am very excited to see how my sophomore high school season goes.

I can’t wait to get started on my (hopefully) first full season of high school spring sports!
