10 Things I Want to do Before I Turn 16: #9 Visit Cape Cod

As I write these last couple of blog posts, I will be explaining places I would love to go in a perfect world, without COVID and what not.

Located in a peninsula of Massachusetts, Cape Cod is home to around 215,000 citizens. In the summer however, that number jumps to over 500,000.

As I get older, I have realized all of the different places in the world that I want to visit. Cape Cod is one of top choices on my list to visit in the Lower 48.

Historic lighthouses stand at almost every inch of the shorelines. In fact, one of the lighthouses, Brand Point Lighthouse, is actually 30 years older than the US itself. Because Cape Cod is a peninsula, water surrounds most of the land making it a popular destination for beach-lovers.

Another historical fact about Cape Cod is that one of the inner cities, Provincetown, was where the Mayflower first landed. However the waters of Cape Cod have grown to be pretty full of sharks, as the number of seals has been rising.

Cape Cod also has it’s own bay, named Cape Cod Bay. In the bay, you can find all different types of tuna, eel, cod, and flounder. You can also find many mammal specie including seals, dolphins, and whales.

In an ideal world, maybe I would be able to visit Cape Cod this summer, but for now it’ll have to go on one of my longer-running bucket lists.
